Feather Reed

Feather Reed was our first Size Wise design. It came about because there was some interest in “a cabin” from people who had lost their home in the wildfire that overtook Paradise California in late 2018. These were people who just wanted a small place to live that was secure and related well with the landscape. We set out to design something that would be a cabin of contemporary design, well grounded in the terrain, that was suitable for full-time living.

We designed a small one-bedroom version of Feather Reed first, it was a simple living space with one bedroom and a single bath. Because of the plan, it could easily be supplemented with an additional bedroom at a later date.

The renderings and plans here are the two bedroom version of Feather Reed. It requires a 62-foot wide by 72-foot deep lot. It has just over 1300 square feet of living space and two generous bedrooms.

Note that Feather Reed has exposed beams and is available with this design. While we love this feature, a less expensive alternative, which includes a wood, or drywall ceiling can be substituted.
